Greek Dances

Aris Mikelatos, son of Lynn and Makis, is a kiniseology graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Aris decided a year or so ago, that he wanted to learn how to do the table dance.

Aris wowed the crowds at both the Camarillo and Santa Barbara Greek Festivals during the summer of 2008, and began regularly performing the dance on weekends. He also perfected a double wine glass dance that he has added to his routine. Aris also does the Ouzo dance, balancing a glass of ouzo on his forehead, then placing it on the floor, only to pick it up with his teeth and drinking the contents with no hands.

Long time employee Ozzy, also can perform the wine glass dance. In fact, most of the servers know how to do several of the Greek dances, and will be happy to have guests join in for a quick lesson. The Greek is fun for all ages.

Paulina
It is apparent in her performance that Paulina moves from the heart. Paulina has been drawn to music and dance all her life and has participated in formal dance training since she was 6 years old. Paulina has participated and performed in many workshops and events locally and around the world, and continues to study the dance. In 1997 she began teaching her own classes. Her unique style is a fusion of Raks Sharqi and classic Oriental Dance w/ a unique modern flare.

Paulina has multiple instructional & performance DVDs available. Paulina is also the host of an exciting new project called Belly Dance Television (BD-TV). BD-TV is a video news magazine covering current trends in belly dance styles, costumes, performances and more!

Patricia Chidlaw
Patricia has studied with many dance instructors in the southern California area. Two high points of her study include dance focused tours to Egypt and Turkey where she saw many star performances and took classes with local teachers. “Costuming is probably my favorite part of the creative process, I love designing and putting together a look that enhances the emotion of my dance”.

When not dancing, Patricia time is spent in her painting studio, working with color and form in a different way. She is represented by Terrence Rogers Fine Art in Santa Monica, and her work can be seen on their website: www.trogart.com.

Kali
With a unique blend of Cabaret, Modern Egyptian, and Tribal styles of bellydance, Kali enchants audiences with her grace, spirit, and genuineness. Kali’s joy for the dance and for her audience is unmistakable, immeasurable, and limitless.

She has studied many styles of belly dance, including Cabaret, American Tribal Style, and Modern Egyptian. She also enjoys other forms of movement, such as jazz, salsa, swing dance, yoga, chi gong, and playing with her toddler. Paris' lively and energetic show can be seen on Friday nights at 7:15. Nella
My favorite dance styles vary from modern Turkish to Egyptian Cabaret. I love Egyptian cinema (especially from the 1940's onward. Famous dancer Samia Gamal was a real inspiration in her movies). These styles found their way into Greek restaurants and hotels to entertain the locals as well as tourists. I enjoy playing the zills as well as veil work, sword balancing and cane dancing. I have a huge collection of Mid East and Mediterranean music, which I am passionate about, including rare recordings I've found in my travels to the Middle East and in London. I purchase my costumes directly from Cairo and Istanbul. I trained under Jorjana and Marie Stowe, a former dancer at The Greek. I have taken workshops from Tito and Mohammed Khazafy of Egypt. I am available for private parties, events and weddings (805) 258-6250. For me, it's all about fun, food and family at The Greek at the Harbor!
